Stream new Giant Sand and Small Black albums at 3VOOR12's "Luisterpaal"

At 3VOOR12's "Luisterpaal" (listening booth) you can stream both Giant Sand's Blurry Blue Mountain and Small Black's New Chain (both due Oct 25).

Howe Gelb's pioneering alt. country band Giant Sand returns with a brand new album, twenty-five years on from their 1985 debut album, Valley Of Rain. Of the new record, Gelb says: "These recordings were done in the space between the waking world and the sleeping one. In that narrow slip of existence lies a landscape of reason that most of us hurry past in daily lives. This record is planted firmly there."

Brooklyn band Small Black rank alongside Washed Out as the leading lights of the chillwave movement, having given the ludicrously billed genre one of its key anthems to date in 'Despicable Dogs'. New Chain is the band's debut album, and it marks a distinct increase in the fidelity stakes since the release of their eponymous EP: the productions are full and colourful, delivered with far more recording clarity than their earliest dispatches.

25 Years of Giant Sand at Le Guess Who? on Thursday 25 November; Small Black will be playing at Le Guess Who? on Saturday 27 November.
